Owning a Standard poodle is a unique experience! Poodles think that they are people with 4 legs so expect a real ‘personality’ dog!
Energetic, enthusiastic, playful, and clever puppies they will mature into the most amazing companion and family pet.They thrive on attention and companionship but it is essential to work on training through puppyhood as an adult dog is a very strong dog.
Although their super non shedding coat is a real attraction it also requires constant attention to avoid matts and tangles which can cause skin problems, general discomfort and hygiene problems. It is no good taking the view that it must be okay to leave it to grow naturally as ‘that’s the way it was meant to be’. That argument does not stack up against the domestication of the dog in a home with central heating etc. If you don’t want a fancy clip just keep the coat one short length – commonly known as a lamb clip.
